PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1991-92

At Faisalabad, November 24

15-Apr-1993
At Faisalabad, November 24. West Indies won by 17 runs. Toss: Pakistan. Pakistan lost the three-match series 2-0 when Ambrose and Marshall killed off their innings with four wickets in four balls. They had made a slow start, as Ramiz Raja and makeshift opener Inzamam-ul-Haq took half the overs available to put on 65. By the time Salim Malik was bowled by Hooper, only ten overs were left and 79 runs required. Pakistan were still just in the game with 30 wanted from 14 balls but then Zahid Fazal was fifth out, caught at long-off. Ijaz Ahmed was caught at mid-wicket next ball and when Marshall began the penultimate over he immediately dismissed Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.
West Indies' total of 204 owed much to a stylish 57 by Hooper, who came in with the innings in difficulties in the 13th over. Aqib Javed had accounted for Wallace and then had Richardson and Haynes caught off successive balls. But Hooper's 93 for the fourth wicket with Lara, followed by 41 in six overs with Arthurton, set a challenging target.
Man of the Match: C. L. Hooper.
