†PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1986-87

At Sialkot, November 14

15-Apr-1988
At Sialkot, November 14. West Indies won by four wickets. Electing to bat first after heavy dew had delayed the start and reduced the format to 45 overs, Pakistan always struggled but appeared to be fighting back through some fine bowling by Qadir, Tauseef and Shoaib. West Indies were 87 for four when Richards played on to his first ball, but Logie and Dujon, with another useful innings (two sixes, four fours), rode the crisis. Prior to the start, a crowd of some 5,000 outside the ground, unable to join the 25,000 already inside, was shelled with teargas canisters and many were injured in the stampede that followed. In another incident, five people suffered broken limbs when the branch of a tree gave way under the weight of watchers.
Man of the Match: P. J. L. Dujon.
