Pakistan v Australia

15-Apr-2003
At Gymkhana, Nairobi, September 7. No result (D/L method). Toss: Pakistan.
A disappointingly one-sided series looked set for a more competitive finale when rain doused
the excitement and sent a sell-out crowd of 5,000 home early. Pakistan had been struggling towards
another inadequate score until Abdul Razzaq launched an astonishing rearguard attack, hitting 59
from 43 balls, including three huge sixes. Waqar Younis's team then gorged themselves on 61 runs
from the final five overs, and reached 227. The total still appeared small when measured against
the power of the Australian batting line-up, but there was a whiff of a possible surprise when
Gilchrist was bowled in Wasim Akram's first over. The first break for rain led to a revised target
of 210 in 42 overs, and Hayden and Ponting were steaming along at 67 for one in the tenth over
when a second downpour settled the issue.
Men of the Series: Australia - M. L. Hayden; Kenya - M. A. Suji; Pakistan - Misbah-ul-Haq.
