Makhaya Ntini has said he would prefer to play for Warwickshire instead of the Afro-Asia Cup matches, which are scheduled to take place in South Africa next month. Ntini would be an automatic choice for the African side but signed his contract with Warwickshire before the tournament was organised.
Ntini is now on his way to England, with the backing of the United Cricket Board, but if he is required to play in the three ODIs - on August 17, 20 and 21 - he would miss a County Championship match, the C&G semi-final against Lancashire and a National League game.
"I want to make Warwickshire win," Ntini told SuperCricket. "They should give chances to the guys who haven't played international cricket yet. And Ntini said he remained in the dark about the Afro-Asia Cup. "I've got no idea what's going on, no-one has contacted me. All I know is that I will be in England when those matches are played."
