Kemar Roach, who made headlines when he troubled Ricky Ponting with bouncers in the Perth Test, is confident about putting the Australia captain in further strife in the three remaining ODIs of the five-match series. Roach has been under-par in the ODIs so far, managing just two wickets while going for 85 runs in 16 overs, but believes that he can turn things around.
"If getting out Ponting is what I'm supposed to do, that is what I'm going to do. I just came to play cricket. I'm representing a lot of people in the Caribbean, I'm trying to make them proud," Roach was quoted in the Sydney Morning Herald.
Roach was wary of going over the limit with his preparation and running the risk of getting injured. "I'm feeling okay, I could do a lot better but I'm not putting myself under any pressure. I'm working on some stuff, I'm not trying to stretch it, I'm still 21, pretty young," Roach said.
"I think there is room for improvement, I'm working on that. The body is holding up well, it is a strain on your body as a fast bowler but once you are fit, everything will be okay."
West Indies have got off to a dismal start in the ODI series, losing the first two matches by huge margins, but Roach believes the tourists can still win the series.
"We are going to win. I'm confident in the guys, we have a good captain, good management team, good players, and I know we are going to pull through and win this series, I'm very confident of that."
