Wisden's review of Mumbai Indians v Chennai Super Kings, final

15-Apr-2011
At Dr D. Y. Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai, April 25, 2010 (floodlit). Chennai Super Kings won by 22 runs. Toss: Chennai Super Kings.
After a scratchy start, Raina settled down to cobble together a match-turning fourth-wicket stand of 72 with Dhoni, his captain. Finally Raina hit the accelerator to help Chennai reach 168, the highest total in the three IPL finals so far. It soon became a mountain for Mumbai, as they committed a tactical faux pas by batting Nayar, Harbhajan Singh and Duminy ahead of the dangerous Pollard - who underlined the blunder when he did come in, with 55 needed from the final 18 deliveries, and blasted 22 in the next over from Bollinger. Pollard threatened to make the evening his own, but fell to a smart piece of thinking by Dhoni, who put Hayden almost in line with the bowler's arm at straight mid-off; Pollard obligingly popped the ball straight to him.
Man of the Match: S. K. Raina. Man of the Series: S. R. Tendulkar.
