India v Sri Lanka 2006-07

Wisden's review of Sri Lanka and India, 4th ODI, 2006-07

15-Apr-2008
At Visakhapatnam, February 17, 2007. India won by seven wickets. Toss: India.
India zoomed to victory on the best batting pitch of the series, wrapping things up with six overs to spare in a rain-shortened match. They were given a flying start by Uthappa, who hit 52 from 37 balls after Ganguly retired with leg cramps early on. Uthappa slapped four fours in Fernando's first over, collected five more all told and also spanked Malinga over the fine-leg fence for six. Sehwag returned to something like form, and after Karthik fell for a single Yuvraj Singh piled in with an unbeaten 95 from 83 balls, adding 145 with the refreshed Ganguly: Yuvraj ended the match - and clinched the series - with 440644 in Maharoof's sixth over. India's big hitting overshadowed a neat run-a-ball century from Silva, his first in 14 one-day internationals spread over more than seven years. He shared three useful partnerships after Sri Lanka had dipped to 56 for four.
Man of the Match: L. P. C. Silva. Man of the Series: S. C. Ganguly.
