ICC Tribute to Peter Burge

The ICC has added its tribute to the late Peter Burge who passed away recently on the 5th October

The ICC has added its tribute to the late Peter Burge who passed away recently on the 5th October. Peter was one of the pioneering former Test match cricketers who took up the challenge of establishing the role of ICC Match Referees. He made his debut as a Referee in the 1991-92 series between New Zealand and England and went onto officiate in 25 tests and 63 One Day Internationals.
As one of the ICC's most senior Referees he was regarded as a man of firm principles and attention to detail, who acted decisively when the occasion called for it.
"Peter was a great servant to the game of cricket from his time as a State and Test cricketer for Queensland and Australia, through to his decade of involvement with the ICC," said chief executive officer Malcolm Speed.
The ICC extends its deepest sympathies to Peter's widow Joan, his two sons, wider family and friends on their untimely loss.
