Durham have sold 6000 tickets in just 24 hours for the one-dayer between England and Australia next September, even though the match is the seventh and last of a long tour.
Ticket demand for the first Ashes Test in Cardiff has been predictably high, and that trend has been matched with the one-day series which gets underway in September after the five Tests.
Durham only have another 4000 tickets available, but they expect to have a further allocation made available on completion of the new stand in the south east corner of the ground.
"We were expecting a huge amount of interest in this game and had prepared for a high volume of phone and web sales by improving the technology and by taking on an increased number of staff," Mark Foster, Durham's head of marketing, said. " We would like to thank those people who bought tickets for their patience as in some instances there were queues, despite our best efforts."
