Cricket Australia XI v West Indians
Wisden's review of the tour match, Cricket Australia XI v West Indians
The West Indians were routed by a hotchpotch team of six first-class debutants and nine players under 24 - and it would have been worse but for a wagging tail. They were 115-6 in their first innings and 97-7 in their second, and only some late-order runs averted an innings defeat. Queensland team-mates Simon Milenko (5-76 with his medium pace in the first innings) and leg-spinner Cameron Boyce (six in the match) were the chief destroyers. There was no respite for West Indies in the field: eight of the Cricket Australia XI reached 30 as they racked up 444.
