The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set up a three-member disciplinary committee to investigate the case of Abhijit Kale, who was accused of offering bribes to two national selectors. This followed the recommendation by DV Subba Rao, who had conducted an inquiry into the matter, that there was enough prima facie evidence in the case to merit further investigation.
The committee consists of Jagmohan Dalmiya, the BCCI president, and two of his vice-presidents, Kamal Morarka and Ranbir Singh Mehendra. A source in the BCCI told The Times of India that the decision of the committee would be final and binding. And although a disciplinary committee is generally given up to six months to reach a verdict, this one is expected to come to a conclusion earlier than that.
