Herschelle Gibbs had found form in a crucial semi-final match and raced to 42 off 26 balls when he missed a slower ball from Kieron Pollard and was bowled.
The Cape Cobras had scored 20 off the penultimate over and were looking set to reach a total around 190. Ravi Rampaul, however, conceded only two runs off the final over and kept them to 175.
Dwayne Bravo was on 17 when he lofted JP Duminy to long on where Justin Ontong dropped a regulation catch. Bravo went on to score an unbeaten 54 and lead T&T into the final
