Chris Jordan helps England pip Afghanistan

Chris Jordan's two wickets helped England beat Afghanistan by a nine-wicket margin in their last match of World Cup 2015, played in Sydney on Friday.

Eoin Morgan won the toss and opted to bowl first on an overcast day. England's new-ball bowlers, James Anderson and Stuart Broad, made good use of the moisture in the air and had Afghanistan struggling at 20 for two in eight overs.

In his brief 6.2-over spell, Jordan troubled the Afghan batsmen and dismissed their main-stay Samiullah Shenwari for just seven and Afzar Zaizai for six.

Rain repeatedly forced the players to leave the field and when the clouds burst for the third time, it curtailed Afghanistan's innings at 111 for 7. England's batsmen faced a revised target of 101 in 25 overs.

Ian Bell and Alex Hales added 83 runs for the first wicket and refused to hand Afghanistan's bowlers the initiative. Hales was finally dismissed for 37, but Bell refused to budge and took his side home in just the 19th over.

"Nice to pick this award," Jordan, the Man of the Match, said. "Helpful conditions. A bit of nibble, a bit of swing. Just tried to put it in the right areas. Shame we couldn't go further but enjoyed being part of the England team. Need to improve my consistency, grouping of balls, and my batting at the back end of our innings."
