A trio of fitness checks this week will determine the ultimate make-up
of the XXXX Queensland Bulls team to tackle NSW in the Pura Cup Final at
the Gabba starting on Friday.
The Bulls will check the availability of former captain Stuart Law
(wrist), pace bowler Joe Dawes (back) and allrounder Lee Carseldine
(back) tomorrow as they commence their build-up for their fourth Pura
Cup title in a row.
Dawes withdrew on the morning of the match against NSW at the SCG while
Carseldine injured his back taking a catch in the Bulls outright loss to
the Blues and was forced to bat with a runner in both innings.
Law has been unable to play since suffering a badly bruised wrist a
month ago and last week was not optimistic of his chances of bolstering
the Bulls batting line-up for the Final after he was ruled out for the
Blues match.
The Queensland selectors will name a squad on Tuesday for the match,
with swing bowler Adam Dale certain to enter calculations after an
inspirational 6-17 for his club team Wynnum-Manly in yesterday's
Brisbane XXXX First Grade semi-final against Gold Coast.
Tickets for the Final will be on sale on match days, with gates opening
at 9am and playing commencing at 10am. Adult tickets are $10 and
children U-16 and full pensioners are $2.
Sunday will be the special Pura Family Day, with all children admitted
free, and a range of entertainment, prize giveaways and activities to be
held. There will be a Pura gift bags for the first 1000 kids to enter
the ground and fans will be given the chance to play on the Gabba at
lunch time.
