At Karachi, June 30, 2008 (day/night). Sri Lanka won by 158 runs. Sri Lanka 2 pts. Toss: Sri Lanka.
Sanath Jayasuriya celebrated his 39th birthday by flaying a century in just 55 balls, the sixthfastest in one-day internationals (he also hit the fifth-quickest, in 48), and careering to 130 from 88 deliveries, with 16 fours and six sixes, before holing out to deep cover in the 28th over. By then, Sri Lanka's place in the final was as good as assured: Sangakkara, driving and sweeping well, emerged from a watching brief to collect his third century in six days, a run punctuated only by a duck against the UAE. Bangladesh lost their last seven wickets to the spinners for 58.
Man of the Match: S. T. Jayasuriya.
