At Karachi, June 28, 2008 (day/night). India won by seven wickets. India 2 pts. Toss: Bangladesh.
One-day international debut: P. P. Ojha.
A scintillating maiden century from Alok Kapali, who hit ten fours and five sixes, gave
Bangladesh a fighting chance - they had only once scored more in a one-day international against
a Test-playing nation - but another stunning performance from Raina, who took his aggregate in
four days to 301 for twice out, made sure India again breezed past their target without much
bother. Raina hit 11 fours and three sixes, and put on 139 in 22 overs with Gambhir, but both
survived relatively simple chances off Mashrafe bin Mortaza: Gambhir was dropped by Farhad
Reza at point when 56, while Raina, on 16, was put down by Mahmudullah at fine leg. Earlier
Kapali had hit the accelerator after reaching 47 from 64 balls: he hit four of his next 11 deliveries
for six, and his last 68 runs took just 32 balls. His 86-ball hundred was Bangladesh's fastest in
one-day internationals.
Man of the Match: S. K. Raina.
