After his stirling performances in the Champions Trophy, Shane Watson was due for a big performance here in India. In the fourth ODI in Mohali, he delivered an all-round performance, scoring 49 and taking three wickets to derail India's chase.
Watson took a while initially to get settled at the crease, trying to cut the seamers with little room to play with. He got into his groove by flicking Praveen Kumar past midwicket, effortlessly lofted Ashish Nehra over mid-on, pulled Praveen down to fine leg and whipped the same bowler over midwicket. He had a lucky escape when a thick outside edge off Ravindra Jadeja beat the keeper. He was on track to score a half-century but lost his concentration against Harbhajan Singh, edging to MS Dhoni.
With the ball though, Watson sealed Australia's win with the last three wickets. With Harbhajan threatening to take the game away from Australia with a last-ditch effort, Watson bowled a full toss and took the return catch. Praveen also threatened, before Watson got him to edge to the keeper. He then claimed Nehra and Australia had won. He claimed the Man of the Match award for his all-round performance.
