Derek Brand is an allrounder who has plied his trade on the domestic circuit since 1998-99 but with limited opportunities. He has found more success in the limited-overs formats in South African domestic cricket, and was selected to represent the Cape Cobras - who he joined after the Eagles - in the inaugural Champions League Twenty20 in India in 2009. This was largely due to his suitability to theTwenty20 format. Brand marked his domestic Pro20 debut with 68 off 50 balls and, at age 34, looks keen to make up for time. He also has the ability to keep wicket should the need arise.
