Profile
Sean Weeraratna describes himself as a batting allrounder, therefore it will
come as no surprise that his cricketing hero is Jacques Kallis. Weeraratna
is a talented sportsman who has played rugby, golf and hockey to a high
standard.
As a member of the Scottish squad for the 2006 Under-19 World Cup who played
in the event in 2003/4 and one of the elder members of the squad, Scotland
will be hoping his experience will help nurture many of the newer players.
He will need to perform better than he did at the 2003/4 World Cup where in
four matches he scored only 48 runs batting at no. 6 in the order. His
bowling has already proved an effective bowler at this level, taking eight
wickets in three games in the 2005 European U19 Championship. Weeraratna has also bowled for the full Scottish side, playing in one match against Ireland
in the 2005-Intercontinental Cup. Chris Oliver January 2006
