ZTBL and National Bank of Pakistan complete wins

Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited completed a comfortable 170-run win after dominating most parts of their match against Sialkot at the Jinnah Stadium. It was a repeat of the first innings for ZTBL's bowlers as Sohail Tanvir picked four wickets to go with his four in the first, while Mohammad Khalil's five-for gave him ten for the match and propelled him to the third spot in the highest wicket-takers list for the tournament. Sialkot were never in with a chance, barring the 59-run stand between the overnight pair of Majid Jahangir and Tariq Mahmood. Manzoor Amjad scored a half-century that barely delayed the end.

Opening bowlers Mohammad Talha and Wasim Khan shared nine wickets as National Bank of Pakistan completed a 172-run win against Rawalpindi at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Resuming at a precarious 95 for 4, chasing 432 for a win, the overnight pair of Zahid Mansoor and Adnan Mufti gave Rawalpindi hope by pushing the score to 177. Unfortunately for the hosts, their resistance ended soon after they reached their half-centuries. There was little resistance from the lower order, barring Nasir Malik who lashed seven fours in his 37, as Talha completed his five-for. Wasim had to be content with four as their side surged to joint-third on the points table.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited hung on by the closest of margins as their last-wicket pair denied Karachi Blues after a pulsating final day at the United Bank Limited Sports Complex, for the most part of which all four results were possible. Beginning the day at 17 for 1, needing another 349 runs to win, SNGPL were stunned by early strikes from Shahzaib Ahmed and Misbah Khan, leaving them floundering at 44 for 4. Ali Waqas and Adnan Akmal then combined in a stirring fightback that began as defiance and ended giving their side an outside chance to win. The pair raised 155, with Akmal bringing up a century while Waqas missed his by six runs. After their dismissals, Karachi attacked with renewed vigour and Shahzaib threatened to scythe through the tail. He finished with six wickets, but No. 11 Adil Raza kept away one delivery as SNGPL hung on grimly for the draw.

Islamabad recovered from their wobbly overnight situation to set Pakistan International Airlines a target of 314, but could not force a result on the final day at the Diamond Club Ground. Resuming at 228 for 7, an effective lead of 217, Mohammad Kashif and Rauf Akbar completed half-centuries to take their side to safety. The pair struck 14 fours and three sixes in all as they stepped up the scoring with a declaration in mind. With the first-innings lead already in the bag, PIA went about the chase cautiously, but opener Agha Sabir batted with freedom for 78. Islamabad made four breakthroughs in the 54 overs of the fourth innings before stumps were called for the final time.

Faisalabad's middle order batted resolutely on the final day in Sargodha to ensure a draw, but Water and Power Development Authority picked three points for the first-innings lead, putting them on top of the points table. Resuming their second innings at 90 for 3, requiring another 17 to erase the first-innings deficit, Hasan Mahmood dropped anchor at one end to score a patient 87 off 252 balls. Naved Latif supported him with a stroke-filled 78 and the pair's 139-run stand took their side to safety. Umaid Asif dismissed both batsmen and sparked a late collapse to finish with five wickets, but Ijaz Ahmed jnr ensured Faisalabad were not bowled out as the game headed to a stalemate.
