Nasir Jamshed, the Pakistan opening batsman, has been released on bail after being arrested for cheating during a school exam. He was arrested on Monday and released by the court on a surety of Rupees 20,000 ($235).
A senior police official, Haider Ashraf, said in Lahore that Jamshed was caught "red-handed" on Monday during a ninth-grade English exam that would help him pass higher secondary school.
Jamshed, 20, played the last of his 12 one-day internationals against Sri Lanka at Dambulla last August. A left-handed opening batsman, he has 353 runs at an average of 35.30.
He was not among the 37 cricketers awarded a central contract last month by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
