Quaid-E-Azam Trophy
A brief history
Domestic history | Patron's Trophy | Quaid-E-Azam Trophy |
Named after Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is Pakistan's premier first-class competition and was introduced in 1953 to help pick the squad for Pakistan's Test tour of England in the forthcoming year. The competition has been contested sometimes by regional teams, sometimes by departments, and sometimes by a mixture of the two. Seven regional teams competed in the first competition. However, in 1956-57, it was decided that Karachi and Punjab would have to enter three teams each, in order to make the teams more evenly matched. Karachi teams have dominated the trophy, winning 18 times.

Sub-editor A commerce graduate, Kanishkaa showed up for his first day at Cricinfo
droopy eyed, having waved goodbye to a job in India's flourishing BPO industry a few
hours before. He worked in Cricinfo's Customer Relations Management team in
Chennai for 14 months, blogging about cricket on the side, before accepting
a rather generous and unexpected offer to join the editorial team in Mumbai.
Now in Bangalore, he is the victim of his colleagues' wisecracks and leg-pulling. He also involuntarily brings it on himself, thanks to his klutzy and comical ways, which have rightfully earned him the nickname Kramer.
