Wisden overview
Another from Pakistan's never-ending stable of fast-bowling talent, Yasir Ali's potential was first noticed when he played in the Under-19s for Attock. A stint with Pakistan's National Academy followed, during which time he went with the Academy on a successful tour of South Africa. Yasir hadn't played a first-class game when he was drafted into the Test line-up to take on Bangladesh at Multan in the 2003-04 season. Not surprisingly, he started off nervously, but improved as the match wore on, picking up two wickets. Yasir has a good bowling technique and a clean, fluid action, and is tipped to be a long-term prospect for Pakistan.
