Built as a replacement for the Qasim Bagh stadium, Multan Cricket Stadium hosted its first Test match in 2001 when Pakistan took on Bangladesh in the Asian Test Championship. Boasting one of the greenest outfields visible in the country, Multan Cricket Stadium also played host to one memorable Pakistan-India Test that saw Virender Sehwag smash a career-best 309 and enable India to inflict an innings defeat over Pakistan.
The 30,000-capacity stadium is also able to hold day-night matches with a set of floodlights installed at the venue. The floodlights, however, were not needed for the inaugural match as India rounded off a quick victory over Pakistan.
