No UDRS in Pakistan-South Africa Tests

The umpire decision review system will not be used in the upcoming Test series between Pakistan and South Africa because of the nature of the PCB's contract with its broadcaster

The umpire decision review system (UDRS) will not be used in the upcoming Test series between Pakistan and South Africa in the UAE because of the nature of the PCB's contract with its broadcaster. According to a Pakistan board official, the system will not be used in any of Pakistan's home series until 2012.
"There is no agreement with the broadcasters on the issue at present but when a new deal is signed in 2012, we will bring up the matter," Zakir Khan, PCB's director of cricket operations international, said.
The UDRS has been used by Australia, England and South Africa in their home series but has met with resistance in India, where the BCCI is not in favour of adopting the system. At the moment, the initiative to use UDRS lies with the home board, which decides whether to implement it or not. The ICC, however, is keen for the system to become widespread and aims to have the technology in place for the 2011 World Cup on the subcontinent.
"The DRS is very beneficial for the game," Pakistan team manager Intikhab Alam said. "But it's expensive to use and maybe this is the reason why we won't see it in the series against South Africa. Although it makes the game more error free, the use of it is very tactical."
Pakistan will play two Tests against South Africa in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, beginning on November 10 and 20, after the completion of the ongoing one-day series.
