The Turks and Caicos Islands beat Belize in a dramatic climax to the ICC Americas Division 3 Championship on Saturday and, with their superior net run-rate over Chile, they took the tournament.

Remarkably, a four off the last ball would have produced a tie to hand Chile the tournament title, but Ralph Doughy, the Turks and Caicos captain, managed to keep Belize down to just a single.

Turks and Caicos made 196 in 41.3 overs with Belize's Kenroy Roca picking up 3 for 26. Belize struggled to get going before Howell Gillett gave his team hope with 17 runs off the 48th over but, in spite of bowling 45 wides, Turks and Caicos hung on to clinch the win.

Meanwhile Peru, playing in their first regional championship, pulled off a 63-run win over Brazil to edge into fourth place. Although they only managed 136, Peru's bowlers tore into Brazil to reduce them to 28 for 6. Their lower-order provided some resistance before they were dismissed for a paltry 73.

Simon Shalders from Chile was named Player of the Tournament for his aggregate of 283 runs. Brazil's Ravi Chanchlani took 12 wickets to earn him the bowling award, and the memory of Matt Featherstone's 152 on Friday - which set up an unexpected Brazilian win - will linger for some time.
