Northamptonshire have signed David Wigley, a right-arm paceman, on a two-year deal from Worcestershire. Kepler Wessels, the coach, noticed Wigley during the season and believes he has potential.
Wigley, 23, who began his career with Yorkshire, said: "I am really looking forward to playing at Northamptonshire next year, the club have made huge progress in the last couple of seasons under Kepler, a very ambitious coach, and the opportunities that Northants will give me will help me realise my England academy ambitions."
The chief executive, Mark Tagg, added: "We are really pleased to have signed David. He is another promising young player and will provide further depth to our 2006 squad"
Wigley suffered an injury hit 2005 season and only managed to play four County Championship matches. However, he showed glimpses of what he is capable of by taking 13 wickets at 29 apiece, including a career-best 4 for 68.
