Alec first appeared for Scotland (against M.C.C.) in 1993 but made only one more appearance for the national side before establishing himself as number one wicket-keeper in the latter half of the 1995 season. He performed extermely well during the 1996 season in taking 20 catches and 5 stumpings in 16 representative games, and had two match winning performances against Ireland in limited overs matches in 1995. A stylish right had batsman, his top score is 45 not out against Netherlands in 1995. The holder of qualifications in Physical Education, Alec is a Sports Development Officer with West Lothian Council.
