Advantage Pakistan
Suddenly the battle looks even. Pakistan came back from the dead to draw the first Test at Mohali and they will go to Kolkata with renewed belief. They will also draw comfort from history: they have never lost a Test in Kolkata, winning one and drawing four. Inzamam-ul-Haq has been careful enough to underplay his sidešs chances but he knows - as do India, who have to leave behind the disappointment of Mohali to focus on the task at hand - the game is well and truly on now.

In and Out - The Cricinfo form guide
Your guide to who's hot and who's not ahead of the second Test

Lakshmipathy Balaji Made barnstorming return to the Test team, nine wickets and 31 runs, after missing a year. Was a marginal selection for the first Test but will be Indiašs spearhead in the second.
Danish Kaneria No legspinner has made a bigger impact on Indian batsmen in last 40 years as him. If the pace bowlers can give Pakistan a couple of early wickets, Kaneria could be even more dangerous.

Younis Khan Two dreadful dismissals for a combined match haul of 10 runs and two dropped catches means he could be playing for his place, vice captaincy notwithstanding.
Irfan Pathan After a hot streak that lasted more than a year, he turned in an ordinary performance, picking up just 3 wickets for 138 runs in the match. The curling late inswing that worked so well for him in Bangladesh was way off beam at Mohali.

Inzamam-ul-Haq
Inzamam-ul-Haq played the best innings of the first Test in terms of sheer quality. He is batting like a king and will be hungry after missing out on a big one in both innings.

Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Indiašs oldest Test venue and the spiritual home of world cricket, Eden Gardens has hosted five India-Pakistan Tests, of which only one produced a result: the 1999 Test when Pakistan pulled off the great escape and won by 46 runs. Since then Kolkata has served as the stage for perhaps the greatest Test of all time: the second match of the India-Australia series in 2000-01. The massive stands were half-empty when South Africa toured last year but that will almost certainly not be the case next Thursday.
