Each team to receive a maximum of 40 overs, with each bowler restricted to 8 overs and the bowler's run-up restricted to 15 yards.
If two or more teams finish in first position on the same number of points, the teams involved will 'play off' to decide the winner. Counties with the same number of points in other than first place share the position.

Points system:
Win: 4 points
Tie: 2 points
No result: 1 point

Prize Money
1st: 2000 pounds
2nd: 1000 pounds
3rd: 500 pounds

Winer of each match: 50 pounds (shared in the event of a 'no result')

Sixes award: 1000 pounds to be shared equally by each six hit - there were 340 in all. 150 pounds was awarded to the batsman hitting the most sixes - J.A.Jameson of Warwickshire with 12.

Bowling award: 1000 pounds to be shared equally by each four wickets in an innings performance - there were 56 in all. 150 pounds was awarded to the bowler with most such feats - D.A.Marriott of Middlesex achieved the feat on 4 occasions.

A.G.E.Ealham of Kent was awarded 50 pounds for fielding.
