Ground Profile

Originally named the Fateh Maidan when it was first constructed, it was subsequently renamed the Lal Bahadur Stadium after former Indian Prime Minister L.B.Shastri in 1960. The first international match played at this ground was against the 2nd Commonwealth Team that toured India in 1950-51. Since then, both official and unofficial Tests as well as one-day games have been played regularly at this venue. The ground recently acquired floodlights, and day/night one day matches have been played here with regularity since (the only D/N match of the England A tour to India in 1994/95 was played here).
