Michael Vaughan has admitted that South Africa deserved to win the one-day series, which they clinched after last night's sixth match at Durban was washed out. South Africa lead the seven-match series 3-1, with the final match to be played at Centurion tomorrow (Feb 13).

"I guess over the course of the whole series 3-1 is a fair reflection," Vaughan told BBC Radio Five Live.

Talking about the Durban game, Vaughan admitted: "The boys bowled well. It's just unfortunate the weather intervened - 212 was always going to be a difficult chase under lights. We lost two early wickets, but still backed ourselves to get them."

And Vaughan praised Alex Wharf, who marked his first appearance in the series with three wickets - two of them early on as South Africa slumped to 1 for 2. "He's been unlucky to miss out. We just wanted to give him a try and he put the ball in the right areas to get two crucial wickets. We bowled particularly well with the new ball, and we managed to squeeze them in the middle."
