On his form
It's a great workout. The training wickets weren't that great in the last few days, and it's been great to get out there and get some decent cricket. I think this game's been perfect so far as the guys have also bowled well.
On the subcontinental conditions
There is so much one-day cricket that we are used to it by now. We've been a lot to India and Sri Lanka, and we have become very comfortable with our game plan and how we approach the spinners. It's good to reinforce it today. We have played in these conditions before and there have been no demons out there as of now. It helps the side that we won that one-day tournament last year [TVS Cup]. It was a confidence booster to win that. It gives you confidence when you make runs against the spinners in these conditions.
On retiring when on 71
We were looking to declare at lunch and give a few others a hit. I was also feeling sick last night so it was a bit of both. I really want to get back, get in fresh and get a feel of the conditions.
His take on whether he is a candidate for the No. 3 slot
Nothing's been said so far. As far as I know, I'm batting at No. 4 at this stage. The order is the same. Punter [Ricky Ponting] is missing and someone will take over. Whoever comes in will know and have enough time to prepare and they'll do their job.
On the Australian spinners
It's a bit hard for me to say, being off the field. The guys are pretty happy with the way they have bowled. The conditions are different in Australia and it's different bowling here.
