Cricinfo announced today that it will provide internet audio coverage of the Asia Cup, which begins in Sri Lanka on Friday, July 16. A subscription to the new Cricinfo Radio service for this long-awaited tournament will cost just US$4.99 (£2.60).
The match commentary on www.cricinfo.com/radio, which will be unofficial, will be led by the former BBC Test Match Special commentator Ralph Dellor, and also features the renowned Pakistan commentator Shahzad Humayun and the experienced cricket journalist Stephen Lamb. Farokh Engineer, Sanjay Manjrekar and Ranjit Fernando will join the team to provide expert analysis and comment.
All key matches will feature full ball-by-ball coverage, and there will be previews and match reports as well as interviews and news from all games played.
The product will be available both in Windows Media and Real Player formats, and will be streamed by Speedera Networks Inc. of Santa Clara, USA.
Tom Gleeson, the CEO of Wisden Cricinfo, said: "Cricinfo Radio will offer the quality and depth of coverage for which Cricinfo, as one of the world's largest sports websites, has become synonymous. The Asia Cup is an important tournament bringing India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh together along with Hong Kong and the UAE, and Cricinfo Radio will be a fantastic way to experience all the action."
