Cash incentive for Holland tri-series

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced today that the winning team in the Videocon Cup tri-series in Holland will take home prizemoney of US$25,000. However, having made this announcement at a press conference in Mumbai, neither SK Nair, the secretary of the board, nor Sunil Tandon, the vice-president of Videocon International, could be sure of the total prizemoney on offer in the tournament.

India, Pakistan and Australia play each other once, with the top two teams going on to contest the final. "We are still working out the details," said Nair, when asked whether the runners-up would receive any prizemoney. Further, Tandon said: "There will be prizes for the Man of the Match and Man of the Series. But we are in the process of working the details out, so we can't say at the moment exactly how much the amounts for these prizes are."

The tournament, being conducted jointly by the BCCI, Cricket Australia and the Pakistan Cricket Board, will be staged by the Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB). Money spent by the KNCB for infrastructural development and in staging the tournament will be reimbursed by the three boards organising the tournament, but the KNCB will not get a share of the profits. Nair explained: "Whatever divisible revenue there is, after the expenditure, will be shared by CA, the PCB and the BCCI."

The tournament begins on August 21 when India take on Pakistan, and runs till August 28. All matches will be played at the VRA Ground in Amstelveen.
