BRISBANE, Nov 3 AAP - Queensland batsman Martin Love edged towards his double century at Allan Border Field today as a bumbling England continued its build-up to the Ashes series.
At lunch on the second day of the three-day tour match, Queensland was 6-444 with Love unbeaten on 185 and Ashley Noffke on four.
Love was dropped today on his overnight score of 124, on 166, 170 and again on 180, while Lee Carseldine (51) was dropped on 29.
They were tough chances but the tourists would have expected to take at least three of them to support their Test attack working hard on a flat wicket.
The bowlers had at least received a searching workout ahead of Thursday's opening Test against Steve Waugh's Australians, who arrived in Brisbane today.
Love has been impressive despite the dropped catches, joining Carseldine for a 125-run stand on another hot day.
Love drove powerfully, increasing the tempo as the Bulls hit 112 runs from the first session.
Carseldine was the first batsman out today, flicking a catch from left-arm spinner Ashley Giles (2-73), who struck again in his next over when Wade Seccombe (two) was trapped LBW.
