Ashley Giles is to be allowed a rest after England's tour of Sri Lanka.
The Warwickshire left-arm spinner has been suffering from a persistent hamstring problem, and will be allowed to miss the Warwickshire pre-season tour to South Africa which follows the England tour.
New county captain, Michael Powell, himself only recently back from England's A tour to the West Indies explained: "Ashley has worked extremely hard over the last five months and we think that he will benefit more from having a break rather than playing more cricket,"
Giles had been expected to meet up with the rest of the county squad in Cape Town for a four-team, one-day competition involving Warwickshire, Hampshire, Gloucestershire and Boland.
Nick Knight, part of the England one-day team, will meet up with his county colleagues after the series in Sri Lanka.
