• Stephen Fleming made his 20th fifty in 44th Test and second against India in 7th Test.His only other fifty against India had come in his debut Test,when he scored 92 at Hamilton in 1993-94.

• Wicketkeeper MSK prasad conceded 24 byes-the worst performance by an Indian wicketkeeper.The previous record was held by Syed Kirmani who conceded 22 byes in WestIndies' only innings at Mumbai in 1978-79.The world record is on the name of England's Frank Woolley,who conceded 37 byes against Austrlia at The Oval in 1934.However Woolley was not a specialist 'keeper,he was deputising for injured Lesley Ames.The 'best' performance by a specialist 'keeper is 33 byes which is on the name of two Englishmen - John Murray (v India,Mumbai,1961-62) and James Parks (v WestIndies,Kingston,1967-68).

• The 110 extras (42 by NewZealand and 68 by India) in the match are the second highest in a match involving NewZealand.The best still remains 114 in the Auckland Test between NewZealand and SriLanka in 1990-91.

• Fleming's wicket off the last ball of the match was 243rd for Anil Kumble in 54th match.He thus surpassed Bhagwat Chandrasekhar's tally of 242 wickets (from 58 matches).Among the Indians,now only Kapil Dev (434) and Bishan Singh Bedi (266) have taken more wickets than Kumble.

• Saurav Ganguly became ninth Indian (on 10th occasion) to held three catches in the field in an innings against NewZealand. Ajit Wadekar has done so twice.

• NewZealand,who was given a victory target of 374 runs in 135 overs remained 123 runs behind.However its total (251-7) is its highest in the fourth innings of a Test against India.The previous highest was 215-6 at Wellington in 1998-99.Just for the record,the highest total achieved by a team in the fourth innings to win a Test on Indian soil is by WestIndies (276-5) chasing the target of 275 at Delhi in 1987-88.

• It was the eighth consecutive Test for India under Tendulkar's captaincy that ended in draw.Tendulkar is now only one short of equalling NewZealand's John Reid's all time record of most consecutive draws.

• Tendulkar has now captained India in 14 consecutive matches without winning a single (losing 3 and drawing 10).He is now inching towards a dubious distinction i.e.not winning a match despite captaining his side in most consecutive matches.The record is held by another Indian Kapil Dev (who is presently the coach of this Indian side).Kapil had a sequence of 20 consecutive matches without a Test win.
