Akram left out again
The selectors once again ignored former national skipper and
middle-order batsman Akram Khan who led Bangladesh to their maiden ACC
and ICC trophy wins, but paid the price for the national team's
failure under his leadership over the last 18 months. Akram was first
dropped for the ACC trophy in Nepal which Bangladesh won convincingly
under his former deputy Aminul Islam.
BCB boss Saber Hossain Chowdhury yesterday evening announced a
16-member Bangladesh team for the limited-over match against England
scheduled at the BKSP on October 23. All the 15 cricketers of the
victorious ACC team have been retained in the side with the lone
inclusion of off-spinner Sabbir Khan.
Aminul Islam has been retained as captain while Khaled Mahmud will act
as his deputy.
England will also play another limited-over match against Zimbabwe at
the same venue on October 21 as part of their preparation for the Cup.
Kutubuddin Aksir, a BCB vice president, will act as manager of the
team which will move to BKSP this evening.

Aminul Islam (captain), Khaled Mahmud (vice-captain), Javed Omar
Belim, Shahriar Hossain, Faruque Ahmed, Al-Shahriar, Khaled Masood,
Mohammad Rafique, Hasibul Hossain, Shafiuddin Ahmed, Morshed Ali Khan,
Enamul Haque, Hasanuzzaman, Sajjad Ahmed, Mushfiqur Rahman and Sabbir
Khan.
