The Electronic Telegraph West Indies Board XI v Australians, Antigua
Reports from the Electronic Telegraph - 22- 24 February 1999

Day 2: Dale roars in to gain best figures

By Anthony Shaw

SEAMER Adam Dale took a career-best seven for 24 to wreck the West Indies Board XI's first innings on the second day of the Australians' opening tour match at St John's, Antigua, yesterday.

The Board XI, resuming at one for three in reply to the Australians' 156, were dismissed for 55 a few minutes before lunch.

That represented something of a recovery after they had stumbled to 20 for seven.

Dale, having taken the wickets of Adrian Griffith and Wavell Hinds on Monday, continued the Board XI's woes by taking five of the eight wickets to fall during the shortened morning session.

His movement both ways left the batsmen floundering. Barbadian Pedro Collins top-scored with 21 not out, sharing a last-wicket stand of 21 with Corey Collymore.

Michael Slater and Matthew Elliott put on 64 for the first wicket in the Australians' second innings and by tea they were 92 for two.

Slater fell for 40 while trying to hit left-arm spinner Ryan Hinds for his second successive six.
