Date-stamped : 24 Dec95 - 18:28 BOON RETAIN PLACE IN AUSTRALIAN SIDE FOR SECOND TEST Veteran Australian top order batsman David Boon will bat at No.three in the second Test against Sri Lanka which starts in Melbourne on Boxing day (26). Australia will be at full strength and skipper Mark Taylor is determined to capitalise on their innings win in the first Test in Perth. Taylor will open batting with Michael Slater. While retaining Boon, who is hav- ing a lean period with the willow, the Australian selectors have recalled all-rounder Steven Waugh and fast bowler Paul Reiffel to a 12-member squad. The duo missed the first Test due to injuries. SRI LANKA PREPARE FOR THE SECOND TEST The Sri Lanka team will arrive in Melbourne over the weekend to prepare for the second Test against Australia which starts on Boxing day (26) at the MCG. Beaten by an innings in the first Test in Perth, Sri Lanka must come out with an improved perfor- mance if they are to give Aussies a hard time. Skipper Arjuna Ranatunga said they will bounce back and give a good run to Australia in the two remaining matches of the three-Test series. The third and final Test is scheduled to be played in Adelaide from January 25 after the World Series Cup triangular tournament.
