The MCC ended their Uganda tour with two emphatic wins over Kenya's Under-19 side. The games were originally scheduled to have been played in Nairobi but were rearranged at Kampala's Kyambogo Oval as a result of political unrest following December's Kenyan presidential elections.
In the first game MCC batted against a side who had only arrived at 3am after a gruelling bus journey from Nairobi. Kenya's opening bowlers limited the runs, but the arrival of Bilal Shafayat (80) in the middle upped the scoring rate. Keith Newell (42) and Jamie Dalrymple (49*) flayed a tiring attack with 93 coming off the final ten overs. Set a target of 252, Kenya were never in the hunt and slid to 102 all out.
Kenya's top order again folded in the second game, but some hitting from Harshil Sanghani and Shem Obado, and a late flourish from Dominic Wesonga, boosted them from 120 for 7 to 197 all out. As had been the case the previous day, spinners were to the fore, and David Adams followed his 3 for 12 with 3 for 20.
MCC's wake-up call came as they slipped to 15 for 3 before Adams (39) and Jamie Dalrymple (84*) brilliantly counterattacked in a stand of 94, and even when Adams departed, Will Howard (20) and Shafayat (31*) helped ease them to a five-wicket victory with five overs to spare.
