Shifron Waskar produced a superb spell of five for 19 with the new ball, as Israel completed their games at the ECC U19 tournament in Antwerp with a convincing 136-run win over Gibraltar. Despite the win, Israel remained in 5th place in the standings, just behind France on net run rate. Belgium won the 7-nation tournament with a 10-wicket win over Italy, to edge the standings in a dramatic final day.
Safania Nagavkar (43) and Nir Dokarkar (37) were the top scorers as Israel reached 198 for 7 in their 50 overs, a good recovery having been 91 for 5. Gibraltar offered no resistance however, dismissed for just 57 in 20 overs, with Waskar receiving good support from Shalom Kristi (two for 10) and Gabi Schachat (two for six).
Israel, who started the tournament so well with wins over Germany and eventual champions Belgium, were defeated in both Twenty20 games by the Isle of Man and Italy respectively, before suffering a disappointing 5-wicket defeat to France as well.
