Isaac Massil scored a magnificent century, finally being dismissed for 128, but not even his efforts were enough to secure victory for his team, with Ashdod A holding out for a draw with one wicket in hand in a Division 1 game played in Ashdod on Saturday.
Massil, who has been struggling with injuries, added 204 for the 1st wicket with Shalom Rubin (69) as Lions declared on 274 for 4 after 35 overs, leaving themselves 45 overs to dimiss their hosts and claim maximum points. However Ashdod A, given a decent start by Anis Zaveri (39) and Gilon Samuel 37, managed to bat out their 45 overs for a draw although two late wickets for Eshkol Solomon made it a tense last few moments.
