Klinger stars for Victoria v World XI

Israel Cricket Association

October 2, 2005

The World X1 takes on Australia in 3 one-day internationals in Melbourne starting this week, followed by a 6-day test to be played in Sydney. The World X1 played Victoria in a warm-up game today, winning by 12 runs. Former Australian U19 captain Michael Klinger returned to the Victorian side after being sidelined most of last season, and scored 62 opening the batting; and that achievement against a bowling attack of Ahktar, Ntini, Pollock and Muralitharan Klinger played for Australia in the 1997 Maccabi Games. Another Jewish cricketer, Jon Moss, also featured in the Victorian side, scoring 10 batting down the order. Moss recently returned to Australia after an excellent season in English county cricket with Derbyshire. His contract with Derbyshire kept him from participating in the Maccabiah.
