Rap on the knuckles

Sourav Ganguly and Shane Warne have been fined 10% of their match fees, while Pratap Kumar, the on-field umpire, has been suspended for a game following the catch controversy during Thursday's IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.

IPL sticks to its guns on Shoaib

Shoaib Akhtar will not be allowed to play in the Indian Premier League despite being cleared by the Pakistan Cricket board, IPL chairman Lalit Modi has said, putting to rest all the speculation over the fast bowler's participation in the tournament.

Saheba needs to face the Mirror

The Mumbai Mirror, which published a story in which umpire Amiesh Saheba commented about the Sreesanth-Harbhajan, has criticised him after he denied having given an interview to the newspaper. It details how Saheba had made the same comments on a local radio station. This came a day after Saheba denied having spoken to the journalist. See more on the story in the Surfer.

Olympic sport
Allen Stanford, the Texas billionaire who could be prepared to bankroll an English version of the Indian Premier League, said the IPL could soon be an Olympic sport. "With the right money, organisation and goals in place it can be an Olympic sport within a 10-year span," Stanford told Reuters. "We want to be the dominant team sport in the world, we want to bring it to the US, take it into markets where it hasn't been before and take it back into markets like the UK."
