Abhinav Mukund, an aggressive left-hand opening batsman for Tamil Nadu, scored heavily for Tamil Nadu in his first two first-class seasons. He started the 2007-08 Ranji Trophy with two hundreds in his first two matches, and was subsequently picked in India's squad for the U-19 World Cup in Malaysia in 2008. However, a poor patch in the lead-up to the tournament resulted in him not getting a chance to play a game during India's World Cup victory. He came back to domestic cricket and started the 2008-09 season with a triple-century, and followed it up with three more centuries in the season.
