Greg Chappell will be paid close to Rs 10million (approx US$ 230,000) per year under the terms of his contract, which takes in the World Cup in 2007. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has never lacked for funds in recent times, and Chappell will rake in US$ 175,000 (Rs 7.5million) for every year of his contract, in addition to travel expenses and daily allowances.
Chappell is expected to be based at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore when not touring, and will be entitled to 60 days of rest each year. But before he takes the rein on June 15, there is the small matter of sorting out his media commitments and appearances. A second meeting with the BCCI will lay down the marker with regard to his print-media columns, and electronic-media commentary.
