Indian Railways has a habit of producing good left arm spinners. Neetu David certainly is one of them. Although she might have benefited greatly if she was a couple of inches taller, she uses her short stature to great advantage. Bowling left arm orthodox spin she gives the ball generous amounts of flight. Although the gift of looping the ball tantalisingly has reduced somewhat in recent years, she continues to be as effective as ever. With successful foreign tours under her belt, she is an experienced campaigner and knows a lot about her craft. If a wicket offers some bounce and turn she can be devastating.

Unfortunately, the wickets that the CricInfo Women's World Cup 2000 were played on did not offer much assistance. In any event, Neetu David picked up just five wickets in the seven matches she played. The fact that she could not penetrate strong batting sides like New Zealand and Australia cost India dearly. The result was that India were knocked out in the semifinal by hosts New Zealand. She announced her retirement from international cricket in June 2006 and then reversed the decision early in 2008 and was subsequently picked for the Asia Cup in May that year.

She was one of the seven players shortlisted for the ICC Women's International Player of the Year Award in 2006 Cricinfo Staff April 2008
