In an age where fast bowlers emerge in their teens, Ashraf Makda is an exception: he made his first-class debut for Gujarat at the age of 26. The late start doesn't seem to have slowed his progress - Makda, a left-arm fast bowler, picked up 20 wickets in six Ranji Trophy games in the 2006-7 season, and was rewarded with a spot on the India A squad to play South Africa A at home in September 2007.
